Security

PWV Security Services

It is the policy of PWV Security Services (Pty) Ltd to continually improve operations so that the quality and reliability of the service meet client and legislative requirements. Compliance with this policy is mandatory for all personnel, in line with the principles of ISO 9001:2000.

Visitors entering Birdwood Estate

At the security gate, visitors with vehicles must present a valid driver’s licence. Pedestrians must present a valid ID document. The visitor must say which unit they are visiting. The guard will contact the resident. Access is only granted once the resident confirms.

The security guard will then scan the ID or driver’s licence and the vehicle licence disc. Visitors will not be allowed in if the resident does not answer the call from security.

Owners and tenants must keep the estate office updated with the correct contact number so the visitor system stays accurate.

Registered residents may not open access booms or gates for any visitor by bypassing the formal visitor procedure. Vehicles entering and exiting the estate may be searched by estate security personnel.

Domestic workers and gardeners

All domestic workers and gardeners must be registered at the Estate Manager’s office. A valid ID document is required to apply for biometric fingerprint access. Registration is from 08h00 to 16h00.

Contractors and sub-contractors

Contractors must register their workers with a valid ID document. Workers may not register themselves. No ID, no access.

No workers may pass through the gates on the back of bakkies or trucks. Sub-contractors must register at the Management Office.

Contractors may enter from 07h00 and must leave by 16h00. No workers may sleep overnight on site, and no employee may remain on site to “guard” a building. There is no work on Saturday, Sunday, public holidays, or during the December/January builders’ holiday, except in emergencies.
